Langenlois wine baptism and opening of “Langenloiser Herbst 2014″
Thursday, 6. November 2014 | 18:00 - 22:00
When the leaves of the vineyards turn colorful and the wine autumn celebrates its climax, the new wine is blessed according to the season. This custom has already become a tradition in Austria’s largest wine town, Langenlois (Lower Austria), where a Grüner Veltliner will be launched this year on Thursday, November 6. The crisp youth with a peppery character and elegant finish is the focus of a festival in the parish church of Langenlois. The Lower Austrian wine ambassador and military commander Brigadier Rudolf Striedinger will be the wine sponsor. The opening of the “30th Langenlois Autumn” is also celebrated at the same time.
After a welcome with a glass of sparkling wine in the atmospheric church square, we enter the church, which is decorated in autumnal style. There, Mayor Dir. Hubert Meisl will open the “Langenloiser Herbst” cultural weeks, which will provide a stage for art and culture, knowledge and conviviality for the 30th time.
The blessing of the wine with Federal Wine Queen Tanja I and godfather Rudolf Striedinger is celebrated by the parish priest Jacek Zelek. The evening will be accompanied by music from the violin duo Aliosha Biz and Martina Miedl as well as the Liedertafel Langenlois. Fritz Gillinger will host the evening.
Bread is one of the most important foods, wine the most important luxury food in our region – both are religious symbols and are appropriately served this year at the concluding Agape. The first samples of the new wine vintage can be tasted. Admission to the event is free. Afterwards, the restaurants and wine taverns in Langenlois look forward to your visit and ask you to book in good time.
